Havelock Island is one of the most popular and beautiful islands in the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago, located about 57 kilometers northeast of Port Blair.
Heaven or Paradise isn’t just a concept – it’s a real place called Havelock Island in the Andamans. Recently renamed Swaraj Dweep, this gem of the Bay of Bengal has been stealing hearts with its beaches, underwater world, and still waters. When planning your Andaman tour package, this island should be at the top of your list. During World War II, the Japanese briefly occupied Havelock, leaving behind bunkers that you can still spot today! The island got its original name from British general Sir Henry Havelock, but its true charm lies in its unreal beauty. What’s fascinating is that the indigenous Andamanese never settled here permanently, viewing it more as a seasonal hunting ground. Today, it’s home to about 6,000 people, mainly settlers from Bangladesh, Bengal, and Tamil Nadu who arrived post-independence.
